No matter what language you say pearl there is no greater treasure to man. Since the earliest known written history the pearl has been revered and desired. 4,000 years ago pearls were used by kings who gave them as gifts and were buried with them as a status symbol, while their serfs paid taxes, settled debts and bartered with them.
The pearl has long been associated with "charity" and the hope of a pearl after death was an incentive for living a good life.
